Basketball is one of the most played sports in the world, and not only on a professional level. Most people enjoy a good game of hoops in their local basketball courts. It’s an involving game and one that has the potential to get you in good shape if you are an avid player.
When you play basketball on a regular basis, you know how important it is to have some dribbling skills. They help you navigate through the court without losing the ball. They also enable you to pull off a rare move on the court that is always ego-stroking. But ball handling skills are not the only skills you need to be a good basketball player. Good footwork is also of the essence too.
There are some tips you can benefit from if you want to find proper footing when you are in the court. First off, you need balance. It’s really important, as it will be your source of strength on the court. Your legs should be shoulder-width apart. This stability is important, but it should not compromise on your ability to pivot. Actually, your pivoting dexterity is the other important thing you need to keep in mind. The better and faster you do it, the better your game will be.

Basketball is one of the most loved and most watched sports in the world. But professional basketball is not the only great thing about it. Most people enjoy playing a game amongst themselves for the simple fun it brings. If you are a more avid player, or play basketball at a more serious level, you can greatly benefit from the tips and tricks offered that can help you improve on your weak points of the game. A few of these are highlighted below.
Improve your dribbling skills. Though basketball is a team sport, individual effort is an integral part of it. Learn to dribble using your fingers and not your palm. Make dribbling something you do naturally such that your eyes don’t need to keep your eyes on the ball every time. Constant practice is crucial especially when it comes to shooting. Learn how to take a natural, relaxed stance, keeping your focus on the hoop and not the attention around you. Make your passes using both your hands as they are more accurate that way. Slam dunks are not difficult, but you need to learn how to jump and know exactly when to make the dunk. These tips should start you off in the right direction as you try to improve your game.
